Supporting Mission
Focus on Mission
At Gorsley Baptist Church we are part of the Mission of God. Local Mission happens in our immediate context – our homes, families, friendships, neighbours and community. Through Global Mission we support Mission Groups outside our immediate context. We regularly support a number of mission groups through the active involvement of members of the church and encourage the whole church community to engage with these and other mission organisations through prayer, volunteering, giving and keeping ourselves informed.

Our Main Focus for Global Mission:
This UK based charity with a Christian ethos works amongst the poor and marginalised communities in Nicaragua. It was founded in 1996 by Mike Cole, who was a member of Gorsley Church for many years. Volunteers including many from Gorsley Church have supported the charity by short term mission trips to Nicaragua, helping at the Charity Shop in Ross-On-Wye and working in the Linton store to organise items to be sent out in containers.
Gorsley has become a partner Church with Open Doors. We hold a persecuted church service each year, pray regularly as a whole church, engage with emergency appeals and share petitions that call on our political leaders to support persecuted Christians.
We also have a special link with:
Smiles is a Christian Charity with a vision, commitment and determination to make a difference for the people of Romania, who need a little help from a friend. One of the members of Gorsley Church, Luke Wathen, the UK Development Ambassador, is a full time volunteer for the Charity working partly in Romania and partly in UK and another member, Nia Price, is one of the founders of the charity.
Pikumpungan Church Project
Pikumpungan is in a remote part of the Philippines. Two of our church members have family who live there and have been supporting this church project for some time. During the last year, Gorsley Baptist Church has given money to help build a new church at Pikumpungan and to help them buy bibles.

Just before Christmas a typhoon struck and caused devastation for families. We had a special Christmas Day offering and money was sent to buy much needed food supplies. Next summer some people from our church plan to go out to encourage the church and share God’s love. They will take clothes, stationary, toys and hygiene items to give to needy families.
