Contract length: This is a permanent contract however there will be a probationary period of three months.
Hourly Rate: £10.53
Overall Purpose of the role:
Orchard Coffee House is a ministry of Gorsley Baptist Church opened in October 2020. We endeavour to be a community hub, where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together and be refreshed.
As the first person the customers meet in our Coffee House you will need to have a positive and outgoing nature that shines in a customer facing environment. Attention to the smallest details is key to ensuring brilliant customer service. You will be excellent at communicating and passionate about our products, whether our home-made cakes or fresh coffee, you will be on hand to help, serve and guide. Accurately making coffee and drinks to order and preparing the customers cake of choice, ready for them to ‘eat in’ or ‘takeaway’. You will operate efficiently and accurately, so that at the till point, you know your customer has everything they need and where possible, more.
We are now looking for a front of house staff member/ barista on a part time basis. Naturally enthusiastic about coffee and excellent customer service you will either already have or be able to develop the skills required to be an excellent Barista (training will be provided).This role is flexible and requires availability during week and Saturday . Hours of work are typically between the hours of 9.00 am and 5.30 pm
Principal duties and responsibilities are to:
Ensure that Orchard Coffee House is all set to go, spotlessly clean and all products are available and immaculately displayed in line with our visual merchandising and food safety standards.
Offer a warm and friendly welcome to all our customers.
Accurately operate the till and process payments correctly and efficiently at the till point.
Prepare orders in a timely manner and provide customers with table service.
Work alongside our cooks to ensure orders are processed promptly and food is ready and available to serve to our customers throughout the day.
Check all cakes and bakes are fresh and replenished throughout the day, to ensure customers are encouraged to buy our delicious products.
Check that customers are seated comfortably and that tables are clean and clear.
Ensure completion of daily and weekly cleaning tasks and help where needed.
Ensure that deliveries are met and are promptly stored away as appropriate.
Perform end of day cleaning as per Coffee House procedures.
Resolve problems yourself or with your team using your initiative, to find a way that exceeds expectations.
Communicate and escalate any concerns or product issues to the manager or assistant manager.
The ideal candidate will have, or be able to develop, the following:
Experience in working in short order service.
Outstanding customer service and a focus for delivering great experiences for our community.
Excellent communication skills, being able to relate warmly to all people.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst remaining calm under pressure.
A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to a changing culture with great initiative.
An eye for detail.
Good organisational and time management skills.
A heart for people and the community at Orchard Coffee House.
Previous experience in a hospitality role, particularly in short order service, would be very useful but is not essential, as we will make sure you have the training to be the best you can be in your role. However, a positive ‘can do’ mindset, a heart for the Community and a passion for delivering great service is essential.
Whilst the applicant does not need to be a committed Christian, a sympathetic attitude towards the ethos of the business is necessary.
